  • President Ndayishimiye: 'When Africans Don't sell in Europe, They Think They are Losers' #rwanda #RwOT

President Evariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi has blamed Africans for lacking solidarity and that they feel as losers when they can't sell to the European market.

President Ndayishimiye who came to power after winning the May elections made these remarks in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea where he jetted in on Monday accompanied by First lady Angéline Ndayishimiye and a strong delegation for a 5-day state visit.

'The aim of the visit is to strengthen our bilateral relations. We have concluded cooperation agreements in the areas of socio-economic development, education, scientific research, culture, etc. We will look forward to implementation,' President Ndayishimiye told journalists.

'Africa has never been poor, it has been distracted by other civilizations,' said the Burundian leader in his speech delivered during the bilateral meeting with his Equatorial Guinea counterpart Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

According to Ndayishimiye, the misfortune that Africans have known is to have been victims of the destruction of their modes or systems of governance; 'The West imposes its mode of governance on Africans while we Africans do not have the same civilization or the same way of life.'

Speaking to his counterpart, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbassogo, he argued that so far Africa has no socio-economic life problem. Its only problem is the lack of conscience of Africans.

Ndayishimiye  noted that the other problem Africa has suffered, is the lack of African solidarity. He believes that when Africans don't sell in Europe, they think they are the losers; when they buy in Africa they have the complex of not being evolved or civilized. And to ask oneself: 'Why not sell in Africa, why not buy in Africa?' To begin with, the Burundian president proposes to connect the countries and peoples of Africa by direct flights and by roads for transport.

    What Pundits Say

The last time a Burundi President visited Equatorial Guinea was in 2012 when late President Nkurunziza was received by President Obiang Nguema.

Analysts consider President Ndayishimiye's visit to Equatorial Guinea as not a light strategic choice or a simple coincidence, especially after a talk with President Magufuli on Burundi mineral resources research and investment.

Burundi under President Pierre Nkurunziza had in April 2019 had expressed interest on how Burundi can emulate the Guinea Equatorial Model because not long ago the Equatorial Guinea was poor, but that following the exploitation of mineral sources and oil, the country is developing very quickly.

  • War In Ethiopia Could Plunge Region Into Civil War #rwanda #RwOT

Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Wednesday ordered the military to swing into action and confront the country's Tigray regional government after he accused it of a deadly attack on a military base, declaring 'the last red line has been crossed' after months of alleged provocations.

However, there are fears that with these orders from the Prime Minister against the well-armed Tigray People's Liberation Front raised concerns that one of Africa's most populous and powerful countries could plunge into civil war.

'Several martyrs' in the overnight attack in Mekele, the northern Tigray region's capital, and Dansha town. He said 'the end is near' for the regional force, based in Ethiopia's most sensitive region, neighboring Eritrea. The two countries made peace in 2018 after a long border war.

Fighting continued Wednesday afternoon, and the TPLF claimed it had captured and killed Ethiopian army officers, a government statement said hours later.

The TPLF dominated Ethiopia's governing coalition before Abiy took office in 2018 and announced sweeping political reforms that won him the Nobel last year. Those reforms, however, opened space for ethnic and other grievances.

The TPLF, feeling marginalized by the shifts in power, left the coalition last year. Its strong military force has been reinforced in recent months, but analysts said it's little match for the federal government.

Ethiopia declared a six-month state of emergency in Tigray on Wednesday, saying 'illegal and violent activities' are 'threatening the country's sovereignty.'

A statement on Tigray TV accused the federal government of deploying troops to 'cow the people of Tigray into submission by force,' and said the Tigray government was acting 'to avert more destructive measures.' It banned movement by Ethiopia's military there and warned of 'proportional measures' for damage to people or property.

Tigray leader Debretsion Gebremichael on Monday warned a bloody conflict could erupt, accusing Ethiopian and Eritrean leaders of making 'all necessary preparations to start war against Tigray.' There was no immediate Eritrea comment.

  • President Tshisekedi Consults With Jean Pierre Bemba #rwanda #RwOT

Jean Pierre Bemba DRCs former transition vice President flew from his stronghold base in Gemena, in the province of Sud-Ubangi and met President Felix Tshisekedi in the capital Kinshasha for a possible political deal.

On Monday, President Tshisekedi officially launched what he termed as consultations that are aimed at uniting the nation. He is also looking for a new majority to shed the influence of his predecessor, Joseph Kabila.

The meeting between Bemba and President Tshisekedi lasted nearly two hours according to the Congolese Presidency.

'It went well, I am in favor of any dialogue between the Congolese,' Bemba said immediately after the meeting. He did not disclose much and said that he had to take his plane back to Gemena.

Senator Jean-Pierre Bemba is at the head of a parliamentary group of 28 deputies, while the presidential coalition, Cach, has so far 48 elected.

Meanwhile the well planned itinerary indicates that President Tshisekedi is scheduled to meet on Friday Moïse Katumbi another opposition politician. Katumbi is a former governor in the Kabila regime and heads the Ensemble pour la République platform, which has 68 deputies.

Before the 2018 elections the three men had parted on difficult terms.

    Jean Pierre Bemba

In Geneva in November, Félix Tshisekedi slammed the door of the opposition Lamuka coalition to create Cach with Vital Kamerhe. Jean-Pierre Bemba and Moïse Katumbi contested President Tshisekedi's victory in the elections and supported Martin Fayulu as the elected president. But since then, the two men have returned to the country and tensions have arisen between the leaders of Lamuka, between Jean-Pierre Bemba and Moise Katumbi.

As for Lamuka's presidency, led by Martin Fayulu, It is not yet confirmed on whether or not he will participate in the national consultations.

Meanwhile, the spiritual leader of the Kimbanguist church, Simon Kimbangu Kiangani, has already visited Palais de la Nation to meet the head of state.

Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo is the leader of the Mouvement de Libération du Congo (MLC). He was one of four vice-presidents in the transitional government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 17 July 2003 to December 2006. In 2016, the ICC found Jean-Pierre Bemba guilty of war crimes and handed him an 18-year prison sentence.

    Arrests

On the sidelines of these consultations, two journalists were arrested and are still being held at the National Intelligence Agency, a security service that reports to the presidency. Roublin Bamba and Ordynolas Mobala, from Bosolo Na Politique, filmed the arrival of the president on Monday with Cardinal Monsengwo. They are accused of having broadcast an excerpt that created controversy, because several of the president's advisers did not stand up and continued to discuss when he arrived.

  • US Election: Twitter Hides Trump Tweet About 'Disappearing' Lead #rwanda #RwOT

Twitter has hidden Donald Trump's first tweet of the day after the US election, in which the President wrote his vote advantage in key Democrat-run states had 'started to magically disappear'.

It earlier took a similar action over a post in which Trump said his opponents 'are trying to steal the election'. Both messages are now hidden behind warnings that say the claims are disputed and might be misleading.

The moves also limit users' ability to like and reply to the posts. Facebook has added fact-check boxes to the same two messages on Trump's profile on its platform, clarifying that final results might take longer than normal — but did not restrict engagement.

    'Censor and silence'

The most recent of the two tweets said: 'Last night I was leading, often solidly, in many key states, in almost all instances Democrat-run and controlled.

'Then, one by one, they started to magically disappear as surprise ballot dumps were counted. VERY STRANGE.'

Twitter took just over half an hour to react. Biden's first tweet of the day said 'we won't rest until everyone's vote is counted'.

Twitter has not acted on any of Biden's tweets. But it has hidden a post by the chair of Wisconsin's Democratic Party Ben Wikler who posted that 'Joe Biden just won Wisconsin'.

On Tuesday, the Trump campaign claimed that 'Silicon Valley continues its campaign to censor and silence the president'.

  • Rwanda Secures Frw 113.5 Billion From Germany For Governance, Economic Development #rwanda #RwOT

Negotiations on development cooperation between Rwanda and Germany were virtually held in Bonn and Kigali on Wednesday, November 4, where Germany agreed to commit to Rwanda 90.55 million EUR (Rwf113.5 billion) for 2020-2022.

State Minister in charge of Treasury in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Richard Tusabe, and Dr. Stefan Oswald, Head of the German Delegation and the DG for Marshall Plan with Africa; Displacement and Migration at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, signed the new envelope.

Both sides acknowledged the long-standing relationship between the two countries. It was agreed that Germany's development cooperation will focus on three areas: Decentralization/Good Governance, Sustainable Economic Development/Technical and Vocational Education and Training and Environment/Climate protection.

Germany will support Rwanda's COVID-19 response by contributing funds to social protection as well as to credit lines for small and medium enterprises hit by the COVID-19 crisis.

Meanwhile, Germany also committed funds for the digitalization of the public sector in Rwanda as well as support for Rwanda's NDC Program.

  • Rwanda Rotates Female-dominated Police Contingent In South Sudan #rwanda #RwOT

Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Wednesday, November 4, rotated its female-dominated Formed Police Unit-Three (FPU-3) contingent of 160 officers serving under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

It's the third rotation of the contingent pledged by President Paul Kagame during the UN Leaders' Summit on Peacekeeping Operations in 2015, following the maiden unit deployed in June 2018.

The newly deployed contingent under Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jeannette Masozera left early in the morning to replace the unit commanded by SSP Jackeline Urujeni, which safely returned home later in the afternoon after its 18 months tour-of-duty.

Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera, Commissioner for Public Relations and Media (PRM) presided over the departure and arrival of the rotated contingents at Kigali International Airport, on behalf of RNP leadership.

While welcoming the replaced contingent, CP Kabera thanked them for their 'resilience and commitment' to their mandate despite the challenges posed by the pandemic of COVID-19.

'It was a challenging period due to the pandemic, everyone was at the risk of being infected. Nonetheless, this did not prevent you from carrying out your peacekeeping duties. For that, we thank you,' CP Kabera told the officers.

He also reminded them that they will head straight to 14 days in quarantine where they will be tested for COVID-19 before they are given new assignments back home.

Meanwhile, the newly deployed unit spent 14 days in quarantine, tested negative for COVID-19, and given certificates prior to their deployment.

    Good evening,

We are pleased to welcome home 160 police officers who returned home after accomplishing a one year @UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. pic.twitter.com/Skl2tCyx9r

    — Rwanda National Police (@Rwandapolice) November 4, 2020

On the other hand, the replaced contingent was also taken through the COVID-19 disinfection process on arrival as well as sanitizing hands, disposing of used fabrics and face masks, and measuring body temperature, among others.

SSP Urujeni said that their successful tour-of-duty was due to the commitment of each and every Police officer under her command.

'RWAFPU-3 operates under UNMISS mandate of Protection of Civilians; creating conducive conditions for the delivery of humanitarian assistance; monitoring and investigating human rights; as well as supporting the implementation of revitalized agreement and peace process,' SSP Urujeni said.

She added: 'In line with this mandate, we carried out public order management assignments, supported humanitarian activities, provided security and escorted VIPs and other delegates visiting civilian sites, patrols and search operations in Juba as well as community engagement activities and other duties assigned through the UN Police chain of command.'

Rwanda maintains six police contingents in South Sudan and the Central African Republic (CAR) as well as Individual Police Officers (IPOs) in different UN missions, all with the strength of over 1000 officers.

  • Charly Na Nina Group Is Still Alive – Confirms Charly #rwanda #RwOT

Singer Charlotte Rurinda part of Charly Na Nina music duo clears the air on an ongoing rumor mill that the group was disbanded.  She confirmed that both singers are doing fine and working together as a team.

Music fans are still in a confusion about Charly Na Nina's music career as media continues to feed them with break up stories day by day with signs like Nina solo performance and deleting images where she appeared on stage alongside bandmate Charly on her social media accounts.

Charly refuted the reports of parting ways with Nina Muhoza.

'We did not break up or stop making music as Charly Na Nina but I guess those spreading rumors wish us to break. Not being in public together like we used to do or slowing down on releasing songs doesn't mean we separated,' she said.

The soft-spoken diva went on to explain rumors circulating that she is pregnant and even gave birth secretly.

'It's not true at all. Am not pregnant and I did not give birth either, those are baseless rumors aimed at misleading my fans. Adding weight doesn't mean am pregnant,' Charly said.

Charly was put on the spot for being pregnant when she appeared on stage recently at the Iwacu Muzika festival and she looked totally different due to weight gained.

Charly Na Nina topped music charts across the entire nation consecutively for 5 years as a best-selling duo while still working with music manager Alex Muyoboke, but after firing Muyoboke, this went from good days to bad, and finally, the situation continues to worsen musically for them.

Charly Na Nina last performance brought up a mixture of reactions, many accusing the group of being distant from each other and having no connection on stage as they used to be in their heydays.

Under Muyoboke and Decent Entertainment, Charly Na Nina conquered the whole country with hits like Indoro, Face to Face, Agatege, and even went on to shine on the regional music scenes in countries like Kenya and Uganda with their hit song Owooma featuring Geo steady.
