Somalia government has asked Kenya's envoy to leave over 'continuous' interference in its internal affairs.

Kenya Ambassador to Somalia Maj. Gen (Rtd) Lucas Tambo is expected to leave the horn of Africa country which also recalled its envoy in Nairobi.

Mogadishu maintains that Nairobi is meddling in its upcoming elections by putting pressure on the regional president of Jubaland, Ahmed Mohamed Islaam Madobe, to walk back on a poll agreement brokered two months ago.

Under the deal, Somalia leaders agreed on revising the election model so it is based on constituency caucuses which will vote for parliamentary legislators.

Somalia Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Amb. Mohamed Ali-Nur Haji said on Sunday that Nairobi had put political pressure on Madobe to renege on the arrangement.

'Somalia expresses its regret in the government of Kenya's overt and blatant interferences in the internal and political affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia which has the potential to be a hindrance to the stability, security and development of the entire region,' Amb. Mohamed said in an address on state TV.

He said Kenya was sabotaging the upcoming poll to pursue its political and economic interests in Somalia. 'Somalia understands that as a result of the political interferences, the regional president of Jubaland has reneged on the election agreement that was reached on September 17, 2020, in Mogadishu,' he said.

Somalia is due for elections before February 2021 and recently made a deal with the five regional leaders on how to run the poll.

President Mohamed Abdullahi — popularly known as Farmajo — and who is expected to seek a second term, had promised a democratic one-man-one-vote election, a first for the war-torn country since 1969.

However, regional leaders preferred an indirect system where delegates pick parliamentarians who in turn pick the president.

Before the current deal, Farmajo struck another one on August 20, 2020, but it was rejected by Puntland and Jubaland states which claimed they were not represented in the talks.

According to the revised agreement, planning for the election was due to start on November 1.

Mogadishu has in the past claimed observers and other nations were using federal states to gain control in the election process.

It has accused Kenya of infringing on its sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence.

'Somalia strongly upholds the principles of interdependence and maintaining our friendly relations with our neighbouring countries. However, it believes that the Kenyan government's actions are not in line with the internationally recognised diplomatic relations enjoyed by sovereign states,' Amb. Mohamed said.

A team of French Lawyers claiming to be representing Vital Kamerhe the embattled former Chief of Staff in the Congolese Presidency have expressed discontent about the manner in which their client is handled.

These French lawyers have drawn the attention of the international community to their client's health situation, defense conditions and the unfairness of the proceedings against him.

Vital Kamerhe was in detention at Makala prison and the French lawyers say they had almost daily contact with him (April to September 2020).

However, they claim that since the resumption of the trial before the Court and his transfer to an undisclosed location, 'we can no longer reach him, while he himself no longer makes contact with us, and it seems that his Congolese lawyers do not manage to meet him.'

'We receive from his relatives, contradictory and fragmentary information of which the evidence is that they are constrained by an insurmountable fear,' reads a communiqué signed by Clara Gérard-Rodriguez and Pierre-Olivier Sur.

The lawyers also claim that the DRC embassy in France has twice refused granting them visas, on the sole pretext that 'we are French lawyers. We approached the French diplomatic authorities at the highest level in vain.'

'In this purely political affair', according to these lawyers.

According to these lawyers, they want the international community to know that Kamerhe's state of health, which everyone knows is getting worse, while with each serious alert, 'our requests for release have failed without the slightest medical expertise and humanitarian consideration — a magistrate has disappeared in this case, in the midst of a first instance hearing — again, a question of life and death arises.'

Then for the main principles of a fair trial, which should bring together jurists from all the states of law in the world, but which in this case are flouted and ridiculed as in a grotesque caricature of a political trial.

'If we have approached the United Nations working group on arbitrary detention and the Special Rapporteur on the right to health, it appears to us that the emergency requires an immediate and solemn alert, of which this press release is the only expression possible ', conclude Clara Gérard-Rodriguez and President of the Bar Pierre-Olivier Sur.

As a reminder, the Minister of Justice Bernard Takahishe Ngumbi, visited on November 24 the director of the cabinet of the head of state, Vital Kamerhe, interned in a health center in Kinshasa where he is taken care of.

At the end of his visit, Minister Takahishe affirmed that the state of health of the former president of the National Assembly is worrying and that appropriate health care is needed.

'We have just seen Mr. Kamerhe, but he is not in a very comfortable situation. He is seriously ill and it requires that he can have appropriate care so that his situation can improve. Otherwise it may be a problem, 'the Minister of Justice had said.

In the process, Minister Takahishe had specified that it will be considered in particular to consider the possibility of evacuating the president of the Union for the Congolese Nation (UNC).

Former President Barack Obama and his family have completed the purchase of a $11.75 million waterfront home situated on nearly 30 acres on Martha's Vineyard — an affluent island located south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. And it is stunning.

The expansive 6,892-square-foot house sits on nearly 30 secluded acres fronting the Edgartown Great Pond between Slough Cove and Turkeyland Cove, with views of the Atlantic ocean.

The purchase price, with the Dukes County Registry of Deeds, is listed at $11.75 million.

The price of Bitcoin has hit a record high, inching toward the $20,000 mark in a dramatic recovery for the world's most popular digital currency, which has rallied more than 200 percent since March.

The cryptocurrency capped out at just over $19,850 on Monday before retreating to around $19,668, according to the CoinDesk index, surging past its previous peak of $19,666, hit in late 2017.

The spike follows a week of volatility, seeing the price dip to as low as $16,200 last Thursday.

Bitcoin took a serious hit in March with the onset of the coronavirus outbreak in the US, sinking below $4,000 for a time, but has steadily climbed out of the slump, gaining some 240 percent in the time since.

Demand for the digital asset has also surged, helping it bounce back to its new height. Other major cryptos, which typically follow bitcoin's trends, also rallied on Monday, with Ethereum and XRP gaining by some six percent, while Litecoin climbed by more than 11%, according to CoinMarketCap.

Among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap, only Tether was down over the last 24 hours, shedding just shy of one point.

Last week we exported 157,347Kg of horticultural products worth US$387,297.

In the just concluded week, revenues fetched from horticultural exports increased by 7.8% compared to the previous week.

According to Rwandafresh Brand, the countries largely importing Rwandan horticultural products include; Holland, DRC, UK, Dubai and Germany. Other destinations include; Belgium, Congo Brazza, France, Nigeria and Ghana.

A court in Saintes in southwest France has resumed hearing in the case of former surgeon Joël Le Scouarnec ,69, accused of sexually assaulting up to 349 children.

Prosecutors believe this could be France's biggest-ever paedophilia case.

The suspect entered the dock on Monday to answer multiple charges of rape and abuse of four young girls including; the six-year old daughter of his neighbour in 2017, two of his nieces between 1989 and 1999, and one of his hospital patients, aged four, in 1993.

The first case, and which led to his arrest, reached investigators in April 2017 after his neighbour's daughter told her family that Le Scouarnec had exposed himself and molested her across the fence separating their properties.

He has admitted assault but denies the charges of rape.

Le Scouarnec's lawyer Thibault Kurzawa said in March that his client 'wasn't in a state of denial' and that he wanted 'to try and understand how he could have done so much harm'.

This week's trial is just the first chapter and what may be France's biggest paedophilia scandal to date.

The second chapter concerns the alleged rape and sexual aggression of  as many as 312 girls and boys from 1986-2017.

Investigators found more than 300,000 images of child pornography, including pictures of his two nieces, when they searched his home in Jonzac, in 2017, following the six-year old's testimony.

They also uncovered detailed notebooks in which the surgeon described sexual violence against both girls and boys during his 30-year career in hospitals in the centre and west of France.

Next to each child's name were comments on the nature of the sexual acts inflicted, investigators said.

This week's trial will not cover that period.

'We won't discover the surgeon, but rather the kind of man he was in his private life', said Nathalie Bucquet and Marie Grimaud, lawyers representing Innocence en danger (Innocence in danger) on behalf of the plaintiffs.

Experts have described Le Scouarnec as 'a manipulator, fascinated by paedophilia', who showed 'no empathy'.

In an investigation carried out by French news weekly L'Obs the surgeon wrote 'I'm a paedophile' in his notebooks every year on his birthday on 3 December.

In 2005, he was given a four-month suspended jail sentence for possession of child pornography.

A verdict is expected on Thursday. If convicted, the former surgeon faces up to 20 years in prison.
