Johnson & Johnson pauses COVID-19 vaccine trial over patient exhibiting an ‘unexplained illness’ The company released a statement on Monday, saying “We have temporarily paused further dosing in all our COVID-19 vaccine candidate clinical trials, including the Phase 3 Ensemble trial, due to an unexplained illness in a study participant.” The study aimed to test 60,000 participants across the US, Argentina, Brazil and several other countries. In September, pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca paused clinical trials of an experimental COVID-19 vaccine after a participant in the UK had an unexplained illness, but the study has since resumed in the country.

Police has arrested a congregation of 77 people that were found praying from an inhabited plain between Gisagara and Huye districts.
The congregation claimed they had gathered in the area to pray for Rwanda against the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the group was not observing measures for preventing the spread of Covid-19.
Mushimiyimana Berithe the Executive Secretary for Bweya cell, Ndora Sector in Gisagara district said they got a tip off that dozens of people had gathered in this marshland praying without observing anti Covid-19 procedures.
A joint operation was conducted on Saturday and all 77 people including youths and elders were arrested. Of these arrested, 76 belong to ADEPR religious group while 1 is from the seventh day Adventist faith.
The culprits may be fined Rwf5000 each. Police and authorities gathered all the suspects and sensitised them on the covid-19 pandemic.
On Saturday, Rwanda reported that total infections had reached a total of 4,349 cases across the country. Deaths are 18, recovered cases are 2199 while active cases are 2132.
The White House confirmed that it will not join a global effort to develop, manufacture and equitably distribute a COVID-19 vaccine, The Washington Post reports, in part because of the World Health Organization’s involvement. President Trump has criticized the organization over what he calls a “China-centric” approach to the pandemic.
