    If you are aspiring to be a gentleman, you should always have a few good ties on hand for interviews, special occasions, or even a night out when you want to look extra classy. When worn right, a tie can take even the most basic of looks up a couple notches.

    Below are 8 different types of ties, and how you can incorporate them into your wardrobe. However, these ties are reviewed based on the American perspective- these ties may have a different interpretation in other parts of the world. For Africa, these are not part of the tradition although the tie has been highly adopted on the continent for the elite and others that prefer to look more western.

    Four in Hand Necktie

    The tie above is the tie most of us are familiar with. It's a staple in most offices and is certainly appropriate for most formal occasions. This type of tie can come in a variety of widths, colours, patterns, and material, so the options are endless. Knots are another way to add some spice to this classic. After you've mastered the Windsor Knot, there are TONS of other more detailed knots that you can try!

    The Seven Fold Tie

    This Seven Fold Tie  is closely related to the four-in-hand tie, this style is made from a square yard of silk that is — you guessed it — folded seven times. Because of the way this tie is made it doesn't have a lining, but it is thick meaning that you can form a really nice knot with very little effort. This type of tie is again great for the office or a formal event. Due to the material, these ties can be a bit pricey, so it may be one you pull out only for special occasions.

    Skinny Necktie

    Skinny ties became popular in the 50's and 60's with bands like the Beatles wearing them onstage. These ties are still popular today and are great for the office, but still looks sharp for a night on the town. Skinny ties are great to wear with jeans for an stylish, but edgy look.

    Bowtie

    The bowtie can be a fun alternative to the everyday tie and is a must have for truly formal events. They are extremely popular in the Southern states and therefore perfect to pair with a seersucker suit. This type of tie can be used in a variety of setting from Balls to cocktail parties to everyday wear.

    Western Bowtie

    This is a variation of the classic bowtie, and was Southern staple, both in the southeast and the west. Most people might think of Colonel Sanders when they see this style of tie. While still popular is the southwest as formal wear, it comes off as a bit too casual for other regions.

    Bolo Tie

    Bolo ties became quite popular in the 70's and have been worn ever since then by baby boomers who like activities like gold panning and making dream catchers (Fun fact: it become the official neckwear of Arizona in 1971 — New Mexico and Texas also have signed laws stating the same for their states). This groovy piece of man jewelry has made a small comeback in recent years, but unless you live in the southwest it may not be work appropriate.

    Cravat

    A dressier variation of the cravat, the ascot is typically pinned rather than knotted. It is used for formal occasions, though some military uniforms use an ascot as opposed to a standard tie. This type of neckwear earned its name by being the choice of neckwear on race day at the Ascot Racecourse in England.

    Neckerchief

    Possibly one of the most overlooked options in neckwear, it's common to see boy scouts wear these as part of their uniform. This type of tie is not formal, unless required with a uniform, so therefore isn't appropriate for most work or formal occasions. It is, however, a great and unique way to dress up your everyday way.

  • Kenya Lost U$44m After President Uhuru Ordered Power Tariff Cut #rwanda #RwOT

    Kenya Power and Lighting Company, KPLC which transmits, distributes and retails electricity to customers throughout the country has recorded a massive revenue loss attributing it to the Electricity price cuts ordered by President Uhuru Kenyatta two years ago.

    The company said it had lost a massive U$44,124,676 worth of revenue according to the financial year ended June 2019.

    Mahboub Mohamed the KPLC company chairman says that the force power tariff cut, 'dimmed the company's revenue prospects by Sh4.8 billion of the total projected revenues in the tariff application, thereby necessitating stop-gap measures in short-term borrowings to enable the company meet its financial obligations.'

    President ordered the downward revision of electricity pricing in Kenya following countrywide outcry and appeal against exorbitant pricing per kilowatt.

    The costly tariff was introduced earlier in July and almost doubled the monthly bills for higher-income households, triggering complaints that forced Epra to cut the tariff from November 2018 to July 2019 to Sh10 per kilowatt hour from Sh15.80 for customers who use below 100 kilowatts per month.

    'We operate in a regulated electricity pricing environment which has a major impact on our revenue margins,' said Mohamed.

    According this company, its net profit fell by 92% from Sh3.26 billion to Sh262 million in the year to June 2019— the lowest since it returned to profitability in 2004 after the 2003 loss of Sh2.89 billion.

    Kenya Power had before the tariff cut negotiated a rise spanning two years only to see it last three months. The utility firm is currently pushing for an upward review of the tariffs to reverse its falling earnings, which have seen it issue a profit warning this year — the third one in a row.

    The profit alert means the company's net earnings will decline by at least 25 percent of last year's Sh262 million — which was the worst in 16 years.

    The firm spends billions of shillings annually on power lines, transformers and labour operations, with customer numbers having grown to 7.067 million. Its transmission and distribution costs increased 14.1 percent to Sh39.6 billion in the year ended June compared to Sh34.7 billion the year before.

    Considering the Kenyan law, it is provided that electricity tariffs be reviewed every three years, but the timetable has been erratic as the regulator has often delayed or amended the rates.

  • Rwanda, Angola Sign Deal To Exploit Investment Opportunities #rwanda #RwOT

    Rwanda and Angola have began discussions on how to showcase investment opportunities for business people in both countries.

    Rwanda Development Board (RDB) together with the Agency for Private Investment and Promotion of Exports of Angola (AIPEX) held a Rwanda-Angola virtual business seminar on Friday morning to showcase investment opportunities in both countries.

    The two countries will showcase investment opportunities in Manufacturing, ICT, Tourism, Mining, Health, Agriculture and Transport. In addition, an MOU on Investment and Export Promotion was signed between RDB and the AIPEX.

    Speaking after the MOU signing, RDB DCEO, Zephanie Niyonkuru said that, 'This is a very important milestone in the promotion of bilateral trade and investment relations between our two countries as we expect the MOU to bring in more investment opportunities.'

    'We are with members of Rwanda's Private Sector Federation (PSF) who are very keen to join hands with their Angolan counterparts to harness new business opportunities that can bring the best value to our countries in terms of creating jobs, boosting exports and overall private sector activities,' he added.

    On his part, Antonio Henriques Silva, the Chairman of AIPEX said that, 'I would like to extend my thanks to the Rwanda Foreign Affairs Ministry and RDB who have been working closely with AIPEX to ensure that Angolan and Rwandan business communities benefit from the opportunities our countries offer.'

    Yagize ati 'Abaturage bari bamaze iminsi bavuga ko Hakizimana yangiza ibikorwaremezo by’amashanyarazi.
