Siemens Gamesa has officially started production of Mainstream Renewable Power's 110MW Perdekraal East and 140 MW Kangnas wind farms in South Africa, supporting additional green power supply into the country's national grid.

The Perdekraal East site is located 80km northeast of Ceres in the Western Cape and the Kangnas wind farm is situated near Springbok in the Northern Cape.

The wind farms are equipped with a total of 109 2.3MW capacity onshore wind turbines and will help provide enough clean electricity to power a total of 250,000 South African homes.

Additionally, the wind farms will emit zero carbon emissions using almost no water during the power generation process.

Despite COVID-19 challenges, the two projects have been completed in line with the original timeline set by Mainstream Renewable Power. Mainstream fully developed the projects, managed the construction process and will manage the operations and maintenance of the plants.

The global developer of renewable energy is based in Dublin with offices in Cape Town. Kangnas wind farm was even completed significantly ahead of schedule.

Part of the 'Bid Window 4' of the government's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP), both Perdekraal and Kangnas wind farms will together add to the 1.3GW to the country's clean energy generation capacity.

In compliance with the REIPPPP regulations, the wind projects were built by the 30% black owned subsidiary of Siemens Gamesa in South Africa and, by its South African staff utilizing South African contractors thereby creating jobs  while supporting local communities, driving local manufacturing and development projects within local communities.

Beyond the completion of its wind projects in the country, Siemens Gamesa remains committed to the local communities in need through several social actions led across the regions where it is operating.

Among these initiatives, the company helped provide relief to Tembisa residents suffering from the impact of the COVID19 crisis through the donation of vital supplies benefitting over 300 families.

The team also supported recently the Witzenberg Association for Persons with Disabilities (WAPD) near the Perdekraal wind farm through the donation of a mobile day care.

The BBC recently ran a story by Andrew Harding making false and misleading allegations concerning an event held three years ago at the Rwanda High Commission in London.

This story is part of a wider narrative fabricated by various anti-Rwanda movements, hostile detractors, some anonymous, and at least one disgruntled former official.

The BBC broadcast the allegations as fact, with no scrutiny of the veracity of claims made or the credibility of those making them.

Many Rwandans living abroad who choose to be members of the RPF have taken an oath of allegiance to the political party for over 30 years now — there is nothing remarkable about the oath or the fact that the Embassy offered the space for a community event.

The oath has been in existence, almost unchanged, since the formation of the RPF in 1987.

Attempts by detractors to misrepresent it as something ominous are pathetic.

The BBC claims to have spoken to 'member of Rwandan Diaspora' but they actually sought opinions of a collection of hostile dissidents and fraudulent asylum seekers, in order to justify the false allegations.

An example is Rene Mugenzi, featured in the BBC story, who was recently convicted and imprisoned for embezzlement and theft in the UK. However, Mugenzi had for years been portrayed as a human rights' activist and opposition leader, and granted significant media attention, often by the BBC, to propagate lies about Rwanda, even as he was stealing hundreds of thousands of pounds from the Norwich Cathedral, as well as defrauding and blackmailing members of the Rwandan community in the UK.

It should be obvious that Rwandans abroad who claim to be fighting the government of Rwanda don't bother to go to embassy events.

Instead, they have taken to inventing false stories such as this one that find a welcoming, uncritical platform in BBC reports.

There were no opposing views of members of the Rwandan community in the UK supportive of the Rwandan government or the RPF, to give context to the falsehoods presented in Harding's story.

Beyond the UK, the BBC appears not to have exercised even minimal judgment, or carried out any scrutiny of those it chose to amplify for this story.

David Himbara, a disgruntled former Rwandan official makes wild, blanket claims about Rwanda's political system that go completely unchallenged.

Had BBC sought to verify these claims, they would allow their viewers to understand that as popular as Rwanda's ruling party is, no one is forced to join the RPF.

In fact, there are 11 other political parties in Rwanda, at least five of which are represented in Parliament.

In line with Rwanda's constitution, both chambers of Parliament are headed by leaders of other political parties that, incidentally, existed even before the RPF came to power.

Noel Zihabamwe is, according to the BBC, 'a prominent member of the Rwandan diaspora in Sydney, who came to the country as a refugee in 2006'.

The truth is that he left Kigali in 2000 to attend university in Australia on a Rwanda Government scholarship.

Upon completion of his sponsored studies, Zihabamwe claimed asylum in Australia and joined the terrorist group Rwanda National Congress (RNC), which runs propaganda campaigns against Rwanda and is responsible for several deadly terror attacks in Kigali and in Northern Rwanda.

Noel ‎Zihabamwe's claims about his missing brothers are unfounded. The spouse of one of the allegedly missing men reported to Police that her husband went missing while visiting relatives in the Nyagatare District.

While the investigation remains open, neither Noel Zihabamwe who continues to cry foul in the media, nor his family has provided further information to assist in verifying this claim.

A simple search on the Internet will reveal Paul Rusesabagina's true face, in his own words, including in interviews on the BBC Kinyarwanda service, as leader of a political party with an armed group (MRCD/FLN) which is responsible for several terror attacks in Rwanda that resulted in at least nine deaths.

This led to his arrest and ongoing terror trial in Kigali, along with at least 19 other suspected MRCD/FLN fighters and commanders that reported to him.

The BBC fails to mention that Kizito Mihigo, who also features in the story, was convicted to 10 years in prison in 2015 after pleading guilty to forming a criminal gang, complicity in a terrorist act and conspiracy to murder.

Following his appeal for presidential pardon, his sentence was commuted in September 2018 along with more than 2,000 other convicts.

He was arrested for a second time in 2019 after violating release terms by attempting to illegally cross the border to join armed anti-Rwanda groups in Burundi, and soon after committed suicide while in detention.

Some NGOs consistently offer credibility to Rwandan detractors who make baseless claims of persecution by the Government of Rwanda.

Sarah Jackson of Amnesty International seems disappointed that 'such actions, which have included several targeted assassinations abroad, never appear to result in any long-term damage to Rwanda's international relations.'

They are not as damaging as those driving these stories expect precisely because they are not true, despite repeated attempts over the years to cement false storylines that do not correspond to reality.

Rwanda is focused on achieving development results and progress for our citizens, and will not be distracted by external dictates that go against the interests of our people.

It should be understood that Rwanda's fundamental values and political choices are driven by our country's history and context, and they serve to entrench stability and prosperity, as well as a brighter future for our citizens. We will not allow this to be disrupted.

Joe Joyce would be 'honoured' to challenge his former sparring partner Anthony Joshua — and knows that is the prize if he can Knock Out Daniel Dubois, says his manager Sam Jones.

Unbeaten heavyweights Dubois and Joyce clash on Saturday with the British, European and Commonwealth titles on the line, but also a crucial ranking with the WBO that could result in a world title fight next year.

'Joe is below Daniel, quite unbelievably and outrageously, in the rankings,' his manager Jones told media.

'Dubois is sitting pretty at No 2 on the cusp of a world title fight with either Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk [the current WBO mandatory challenger] depending upon if the belt becomes vacant.

'If Joe beats Dubois, he gets that spot. This is what motivates Joe. 'Joe has been in the deep end from the get-go but has to beat a 22-year-old who is tipped as the next Mike Tyson — that's his quick route to the world title. So be it.'

Joyce won the Olympic silver medal in 2016 four years after Joshua won gold — they have shared countless rounds of sparring over many years as representatives of Team GB.

Joshua must defend his IBF, WBA and WBO belts against Kubrat Pulev on December 12, and hopes to fight WBC champion Tyson Fury in 2021 but could find Joyce as a new contender to his titles.

'Yes, of course,' Jones insisted. 'Joshua and Fury are the two kingpins of the division and if any heavyweight doesn't want to fight them, then they should retire.

'Joe wants fights against the likes of Joshua, Fury, Usyk.

'It would be an honour to share the ring with Joshua. Two Brits is always a huge fight.

'After this fight, Joe will be in the mix and able to call out any of the top guys.

'Joe believes he belongs in that company.'

Joyce is 12 years older and far more experienced than Dubois, aged 22, if his extensive amateur career is taken into account.

Dubois is considered a special talent for his knockout pedigree, but Joyce's team believe they have been overlooked.

'Joe has beaten Frazer Clarke four times, Mahammadrasul Majidov, Bakhodir Jalolov who is a massive power puncher, Ivan Dychko, Filip Hrgovic and Tony Yoka but people have disregarded him,' said Jones.

'So all the pressure is on young Daniel.

'I honestly think that Dubois' side think Joe is useless!

'But Dubois, apart from the Nathan Gorman fight, has been in total mismatches. He can seriously punch, he can bang, Joe knows that.

'But can he mix it up? What will he do in the later rounds? He hasn't experienced somebody really trying to beat him yet.

'Joe knows how to win on the world level. You don't win the medals that Joe has won if you are rubbish.

'Joe's power is underestimated. When Dubois feels one of Joe's jabs? He will be uncomfortable.

Set in rural Spain during Gen. Francisco Franco's dictatorship, 'La Trinchera Infinita' tells the story of a man who spends 33 years hidden inside his house for fear of political persecution.

It's a survival drama not unlike 'The Revenant' or '127 Hours,' except what Higinio (Antonio de la Torre) must survive are not the elements or the limits of his own body, but, for the most part, isolation and tedium.

Apart from a kinetic opening in which Higinio escapes capture in the Andalusian countryside and returns to his new wife, Rosa (Belén Cuesta), the film unfolds largely indoors.

As the years go by, the central couple (aged impressively by prosthetics) grapple with marital troubles and parenthood amid a life of deception and fear.

'What's going on in the village?' Higinio asks Rosa at dinner a couple decades into his confinement. 'Life, Higinio, I don't know,' she replies exasperatedly.

It's fertile thematic ground, but as in most survival movies, showy feats of filmmaking take precedence over insight or revelation. Cuesta and De la Torre play their parts with somber, awards-appropriate dignity, and the film's glossy production values imbue even blood and grit with a golden-yellow glow.

Every emotional beat is underlined with precious visuals: a beam of light illuminating a single tear on Higinio's face as he watches Rosa's interrogation through a hole in the wall; Higinio wistfully examining photographs of everyday life under a magnifying glass.

It's all (neatly rendered) text, with little subtext. The directors Aitor Arregi, Jon Garaño and Jose Mari Goenaga literalize this approach with intertitles — featuring dictionary entries of words like 'hide,' 'detention,' and 'danger' — that plainly lay out the film's themes.
