  • Mother Mary International School complex introduces e-learning program to upcountry students #rwanda #RwOT

    The school continues its program of teaching and educating students with their E-Learning program. It is reassuring to parents whose student will be attending classes, as they are equipped with the most advanced technology.

    The school also announced that they will be opening branches in the Great Lakes region and that its E-Learning program allows anyone and anywhere in the world to attend classes without hindrance.

    The school has professional and trained teachers; is a school that uses the French program in Nursery and English Cambridge program in primary and secondary schools.

    A student graduating in the Mother Mary International School Complex is awarded an English General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), and a B2 French Diploma (Diploma d’Etudes en Langue Français). He is also graduating from A’Level High School at the end of his 12th year, which is open to the world’s largest universities.

    The principal of the school told IGIHE that the E-Learning program was intensified after seeing the effects of the coronavirus.

    “Mother Mary’s administration, seeing that the children have stopped studying because of Covid-19, immediately set up an online learning program so that they do not lose out all year. They had already studied for a semester and a half, and they immediately went on to finish the second and third semesters of the year and now they are on vacation. So now we are starting a new year in September,” the principal said

    The Principal also called on parents of the children who study at the school and those who want to register their children.

    Enrolling a new student is done online. Go to the school website www.mothermary.rw and start the registration process and be explained step by step.

    The registration fee is 10,000Frw paid to BK (Bank of Kigali) using the account number found on the school website. After paying the tuition fee, the parent gives the child a computer with internet access. The school will then connect the student with the teacher who will be supervising them, allowing them to study from home.

  • Meteo Rwanda announces moderate rain in the next two weeks #rwanda #RwOT

    Meteo Rwanda said that between the 21st and 31st of August 2020 in Rwanda, rainfall is expected to be between 0 mm and 15 mm.

    Rainfall of between 10 and 15 mm is expected in Musanze district, a small part of Burera bordering Musanze, Nyabihu district in areas bordering Musanze, Gakenke and Ngororero districts.

    It is also expected to cover a large part of Ngororero district bordering Musanze, in Muhanga district near Ngororero and Nyabihu, a small area of Gakenke near Nyabihu, and a section of Nyamagabe near Nyamasheke.

    Rainfall of between 1 and 5 mm is expected in Nyagatare and Gatsibo districts, parts of the Southern Province, north in Rulindo and Gicumbi districts. It will also rain in Gasabo in the vicinity of Rulindo and in Nyarugenge district in the vicinity of Kamonyi.

    Rains between 0 and 1 are expected in other parts of the Eastern Province and in Kigali City.

    Meteo Rwanda said it was clear that the expected rainfall was to be generally very low.

  • Cyclist intercepted trafficking narcotics concealed in onions #rwanda #RwOT

    Nsengiyumva had concealed the narcotics in a sack of onions so as not to be identified and arrested, Police said.

    Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Bonaventure Twizere Karekezi, the Police spokesperson of the Western region, said that Nsengiyumva was reported by local residents.

    “People at Gihira stage in Muhira Cell, Rugerero Sector where commercial cyclists normally park, reported that Nsengiyumva had left with a luggage but with quantities of cannabis concealed in it. He was trailed and intercepted in the neighbouring Nyundo Sector where it is suspected he was delivering the narcotics,” CIP Karekezi said.

    He, however, added that Nsengiyumva declined to name the person who gave him the sack of onions which also contained the narcotics as well as the person to whom he was delivering it.

    The spokesperson thanked those who provided information that led to the seizure of the narcotics and arrest of the suspected trafficker.

    It is suspected that Nsengiyumva is part of the chain of traffickers especially supporting in transportation.

    CIP Karekezi warned cyclists against working with or facilitating drug traffickers and urged them to be community policing agents by reporting their colleagues and other people engaged in this criminal business.

    Anyone convicted as a major drug trafficker and dealer in “severe drugs”, faces between 20 years and life in prison and a fine of up to Rwf30 million, under article 263 of the law relating to offences and penalties in general in Rwanda.

  • Rwandan peacekeepers build guest house Central African Republic #rwanda #RwOT

    The facility that comprises of four bedrooms, sitting room and bathroom is fully furnished.

    The whole project is valued to USD 40,767.

    In his remarks, the Prefet of Haute Kotto, Evariste Thierry thanked Rwandan Peacekeepers for implementing the project.

    “I am so grateful for this facility that Rwandan peacekeepers have handed over today. It is a sign of fraternity; the building will serve to accommodate the high authorities who will visit our prefecture,” he said.

    Rwanda Battle Group Commanding Officer Lt Col Leodomir Uwizeyimana said that the project was intended to improve the capacity of hosting the temporary visitors of the prefecture. The construction project is part of Quick Impact Projects to support the community and was initiated and implemented by Rwanda peacekeepers with full support from MINUSCA, he noted.
