Just five months ago, President Felix Tshisekedi summoned to his office the DRC army, Police and other security agencies to make vows of allegiance to him and Congolese people.

On Tuesday, President Tshisekedi issued orders to the military, police and other security agencies in the country to report to his office. Again they renewed their vows of allegiance to the president.

The security promised to remain loyal to President Tshisekedi also Commander-in-Chief of DRCs armed forces.

'We promise to remain accountable to the Congolese population. The Armed Forces and the national police reassure your Supreme Authority that no seduction campaign of any kind whatsoever will undermine our civic commitment and our determination to remain apolitical, national and republican ', they declared in their message entitled' Unwavering loyalty '.

President Tshisekedi spoke to the DRC security for nearly 4 hours. They included a hundred general and superior officers, including 70 from the FARDC and 64 from the Police, reminding them of the oath they took to serve under the flag.

This moral talk comes 5 months after the one held on July 11 of this year in the same room.

Huawei, said on Tuesday that it has kicked off the one week seeds for the future training through online and live broadcast sessions from 30th November to 6th December 2020.

Huawei is to train 64 top ICT students recommended from the various universities of Rwanda in areas of Internet of Things, Virtual Reality, Big Data, Cloud, Artificial intelligence and 5G related courses.

Speaking at virtual Launch Huawei Country Manager, Yang Shengwan noted that this year's training shall be carried out online because of the covid-19 pandemic that has led to closure of borders of various countries .

'Before, we have been selecting the top 8 ICT students from the various universities of Rwanda for a two weeks technological training in China but this year, the program shall be carried out online and we shall make full use of its advantages of e- learning and communication without borders, showing the future communication trends through we link, a sense of exclusivity of a teaching form and the convenience of not being restricted by the place,' Mr Yang said.

Speaking on behalf of ICT Minister at virtual launch, Angelos Munezero the Director General of Innovation & Emerging Technologies at Ministry thanked Huawei for this great initiative and called on students to utilize this chance for the betterment of the country's ICT sector.

'I thank Huawei for continued development and providing skill to our students, through initiatives such as these that involve skilling of young people, our country can only go forward, I call on students to put in all needed efforts to learn,' Mr Munezero noted.

'And more importantly will continue working together with Huawei to build the skills in our current and future workforce,' he added.

Rwanda's Second Counselor at the Mission in Beijing Mr. Virgile Rwanyagatare called on the student to also learn the Chinese language and culture on top technological skills.

'You should not only learn and get skills from the Huawei but also run the Chinese culture and language though it is hard but it as it will help facilitate business with a quarter of the world's population which very crucial for the development for our country,' He said.

The seeds for the future program is Huawei's Corporate Social Responsibility flagship program that began in 2008.

This program takes 10 students every year to China for hands- on technological training in the latest industry trends.

Over 30,000 students worldwide have taken part since inception.

But because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the company globally introduced this online study to promote continuity of the program without any boundaries and limitations.

The Russian authorities have arrested Jehovah's Witnesses in Moscow and across 20 other regions as part of their latest investigation into the religious group that is officially banned as 'extremist,' investigators on Tuesday.

The Moscow branch of the federal Investigative Committee, which investigates major crimes, showed a video of masked men prying open an apartment door and displaying Russian and foreign currency seized during the searches. In a statement, it said Jehovah's Witnesses held 'secret meetings' there, 'studied religious literature' and 'recruited new members.'

The raids were part of a criminal case opened into 'extremist' activities of the Jehovah's Witnesses Administrative Center, the organization's head office, between June 2019 and the present.

Russia's Supreme Court banned the Jehovah's Witnesses in April 2017.

'Together with the Russian Interior Ministry, the FSB [Federal Security Service] and National Guard support, investigators of the capital's main directorate conducted searches in Moscow and in more than 20 regions of the country,' the Moscow Investigative Committee said.

It did not say in which regions and how many worshippers have been detained, noting only that they were both 'organizers and participants of the movement.'

If found guilty, the defendants face up to 10 years in prison.

The Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia organization has not reported on the latest raids.

The Christian denomination estimated that more than 400 of its followers have been charged or convicted in Russia between 2017 and late October 2020. Ten worshippers are serving prison sentences ranging from two to six years.

The Human Rights Watch said in its new report that Security forces in Tanzania have arbitrarily detained, tortured and forcibly disappeared at least 18 Burundian refugees since late last year.

'Between October 2019 and August 2020, Tanzanian police and intelligence services forcibly disappeared, tortured, and arbitrarily detained at least 11 Burundians for up to several weeks in abysmal conditions in a police station in Kibondo, Kigoma region,' the report indicated on Monday.

By October, Tanzania was still hosting more than 150,000 refugees in three camps, but almost 100,000 people have returned to Burundi since September 2017.

In testimony gathered by the NGO, nine of the detainees at Kibondo were reportedly tortured before they were returned to the Mtendeli and Nduta camps in Kigoma.

'The Burundians said that Tanzanian police detained them in rooms with no electricity or windows, took them to a separate building on the police station grounds, and hanged them from the ceiling by their handcuffs,' the report said.

'Some said that police and intelligence agents gave them electric shocks, rubbed their faces and genitals with chili, and beat and whipped them,'HRW said.

In certain cases, police and intelligence officers told refugees that they had been given information about them by Burundian authorities, 'suggesting collusion between agents from the two countries,' the report said.

The Ibanda-Makera natural Forest in Kirehe District, Eastern Province, is about to be transformed into a Park that will be visited by tourists once its rehabilitation and conservation activities are completed.

The eastern part of Rwanda is known for its high sun, Kirehe District being one of the most drought-prone areas, which is why Ibanda-Makera forest located in Mpanga Sector is being rehabilitated as one of the ways to deal with climate change in the region.

The Ibanda-Makera forest, which now covers an area of ​​169 hectares, has been destroyed by locals seeking firewood, charcoal and building trees, with some animals fleeing and others being killed.

Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) in collaboration with the Kirehe District and Rwanda Forestry Authority has decided to start conservation activities to prevent permanent erosion, according to Mugabo Fabrice, NAP Project Sector Specialist within REMA.

'It came to our notice that the Ibanda-Makera forest is gradually losing its original size and that once we don't protect it, it will totally disappear. Through NAP (National Adaptation Planning process) the activities to be conducted include fencing, the re-planting of natural trees to restore its originality.' He explains.

'The people who were farming around it will be supported to get another livelihood that prevents them from re-entering the forest. We will help them plant fruit trees in their fields and other activities that promote them such as beekeeping and other activities that they will choose, since this is a difficult agricultural area.' He adds.

The $ 400,000 Ibanda-Makera Forest Rehabilitation Project is four-year long. At least 74 hectares need to be restored.

'There are talks between REMA and RDB and some work has been started to see how after proper restoration it will be handed to the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and turned into a tourism destination', Mugabo said.

Local residents in Nasho Cell, Mpanga Sector say they have been encouraged to conserve it because they know its value.

'From the past, this forest was useful; it had many animals that are no longer there. Restoring will help us in the beekeeping projects in which we are engaged. We are committed to protect it from any damage because we know its value', Rugina Ananias said.

Ibanda-Makera forest was said to be a home to several types of wild animals like lions, monkeys, snakes, chimpanzees, wild pigs, antelopes, leopards and birds. Some are no longer found there. It is made up of savanna trees and bushes, swamps and gigantic trees. There were at least 124 tree varieties.
